Homebrew Website Club met on April 19th with a virtual meetup at 7pm for Europe and London time. Discussion topics included wiki sparklines, the Gemini protocol, letting your writing flow, and more. Planning is underway for an IndieWebCamp Nuremburg for 2023. Tentatively scheduled for October 28th and 29th, it will be adjacent to the border:none conference, which is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. --- Here is a brief summary of posts collected this week by IndieNews, a community-curated list of articles relevant to the IndieWeb. You can read more, or submit posts of your own, at news.indieweb.org. Simone at minutestomidnight.co.uk posted "A personal manifesto". In it, he describes principles he stands for, including takes on attention span, sustainability, online social participation, and more, all connected with a will to keep his mental health safe. Tracy at tracydurnell.com posted "Blogging's emotional obstacles". In it, she drafts a framework for overcoming perfectionism while balancing the risks of posting publicly - or remaining silent - about personal or controversial topics. Ryan at snarfed.org published "I'm not eating my own dog food". In it, Ryan discusses his IndieWeb-friendly services like Bridgy which allow personal sites to interoperate with social network silos. He recognizes that there are important unsettled issues about social networks and tools, such as safety and civic health, that are outside his personal expertise and experience. Fluffy at beesbuzz.biz posted "Goodbye, Twitter third-party login". In it, Fluffy details her efforts to keep third-party login with Twitter working on her site. Despite Twitter's claims that this feature would remain available in the free tier of its new API plans, that doesn't appear to be working. --- And now, a selection of this week's updates from indieweb.org. # New Community Members Anthony joins us from anthonyronda.com. Anthony digitizes tabletop games, and uses his personal site to talk about travel, ADHD, learning, and Polish language and culture. If you haven't already, now is a good time to create your own user page. It's a great way to introduce yourself to the IndieWeb community, and to collect the things that you are working on, or want to work on, for your personal website. For more details, visit indieweb.org/wikifying. Updates that haven't already been mentioned included some page organization cleanups and personal site notes. As always, you can follow the links in the newsletter to learn more about and add detail to any concept on the wiki. --- That's going to do it for this week. Thank you for listening!
